Academic Proofreading Services

Our service charges

Academic
Proofreading

£8-10 per 1000 words

A service recommended to students who want their written English checked and improved elegantly and efficiently for an approaching deadline.

A high quality proofreading service which includes follow-up drafts, full formatting of References and Contents pages.
I can also accompany your research progressively over some weeks or months for a later submission date.

Note from Daniel-
When the proofreading requires detailed changes I may charge clients per hour, but the £10 per 1000 words is a general indication of the approximate hourly fee.

Academic
Editing

£10-15 per 1000 words

Detailed and thorough editing work recommended to researchers looking to improve their written English and academics seeking the best possible written language for publication of a journal, article or book.

Our heavy editing is in addition to a high quality proofreading service which may also include multiple revised drafts provided by our editor before the formal submission date.

Note from Daniel-
I may agree a fixed fee with the client on these jobs. For example, £200-300 for a Masters dissertation or £500-£8000 for a 70-100,000 word PhD thesis.

Commercial
Copyediting

£20-25 per 1000 words

Our multilingual freelancers work with the international corporate sector to translate, edit and improve English language content.

We offer a fast and efficient service for regular deadlines. We will select the best editor for you to provide a careful improvement of your English text.
We may restructure your work, changing sentences and paragraphs to improve your content for an English-speaking market.

Note from Daniel-
As our chief editor, I will work personally on your English content if requested.

Academic & Commercial
Translation

£25-30 per 1000 words

The goal  of our European and Asian linguists is to create accurate but dynamic English texts expressing the style of your language.

Our native English editors then check the work to ensure the best possible written English will reach the world.

While our chief editor, Daniel, has translated two books from French to English, we are also proud to have other literary translators working in several European languages.

Note from Daniel-
We have a network of translators waiting to discuss your project, while I personally specialise in French translation.

“Dan accompanied me throughout my coursework and proofread several drafts of my Final Year dissertation. He was knowledgeable on many issues in contemporary art as well as art history. He helped me a lot with my dissertation on cinema, which was challenging over the lockdown period. He is a patient and thorough proofreader who was also able to restructure my work to make it read much better.”

Daniel Rayburn

Director, Senior Editor and Translator

Graduating from the University of Oxford reading Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Dan started academic proofreading as a Masters student in Political Philosophy at the University of Exeter. He then had the opportunity to study in Paris to improve his second professional and academic language.

An 8-year experience living in France greatly enhanced his skills as an English-French translator, editor and international copywriter. He now organises and oversees editing jobs for students, researchers and companies. As a side interest, Dan has translated two books of philosophy and fiction from French into English, and continues to work as an editor, content writer and language teacher.

"Daniel helped to proofread my Master's dissertation but he also edits my gallery programmes because I am a working artist.
He understands contemporary art and the style of language needed but he is also a very good editor of academic English.
I am very pleased with Daniel's work and would recommend him to everyone studying and working in culture."
